USD 3,500/mo floor stated on u.ae, ICP and GDRFA (all official) and still unchanged on the last page read - the rumored rise to USD 5,000 has not materialized on any official page. What DID change: a GDRFA procedural update effective 2026-01-27 doubled the required proof-of-income history from 3 to 6 consecutive months of bank statements. RE-CHECKED 2026-07-19: secondary immigration-consultancy sources now describe a January-2026 ICP/GDRFA circular, said to take effect 2026-04-23, that raises this floor - but they conflict on the actual rule (flat USD 5,000/mo for everyone vs. a tiered structure where employees stay at USD 3,500 and only business owners/freelancers move to USD 5,000). No official page could be read to adjudicate, so USD 3,500 remains the published figure; treat USD 5,000 as an unconfirmed, internally-inconsistent rumor, not a fact, until an official page or a single consistent account surfaces.

France has no digital nomad visa. Since June 2025, France had enforced a ban on remote work under the long-stay VISITOR visa (VLS-TS 'visiteur'); a 2026-06-23 Journal Officiel response from the Ministry of the Interior (answering National Assembly question n°11730) reversed course: remote work from France for a foreign employer, with income paid and taxed abroad and no activity benefiting a France-based business, is 'non-active' and IS compatible with visiteur status - no work permit needed. The visiteur visa has no fixed income figure in law; consulates require proof of 'sufficient and regular resources', commonly benchmarked against the SMIC. The Profession Liberale visa (resources ~SMIC, figure above) or the Talent Passport remain the applicable routes only if the work is integrated into the French economy (French clients, French-paid work, staff supervised in France). SMIC-linked figures rise with each revaluation - confirm the current amount and exact thresholds with your consulate.

RULE is official (200% of monthly SMI, per consulate). Euro figure is DERIVED from the 2026 SMI: Real Decreto 126/2026 fixed it at EUR 1,221/month (14 payments) / EUR 17,094/year. The commonly-cited ~2,442 figure is 2x the nominal monthly SMI; the fiche's EUR 2,849 is 200% of the SMI annualized then reprorated over 12 months (EUR 17,094 / 12 x 2) - the basis Extranjeria/UGE is reported to actually apply. Family uplift (official): +75% SMI first member, +25% each additional.

Beckham eligibility differs for employees vs self-employed. Re-checked 2026-07-17: the 24% rate (47% above EUR 600k from the same payer) is now independently corroborated by search-indexed content across several distinct pages on AEAT's own domain (sede.agenciatributaria.gob.es), including the exact URL above - not just the single secondary blog originally cited. sourceUrl updated to AEAT directly; confidence stays "reported" rather than "official" because the page still 403s on a literal direct fetch (proxy policy denial affecting all .gob.es domains this pass), so this rests on a search-engine read of AEAT's indexed content, not a page fetch.

EUR 3,680/mo = 4x the 2026 minimum wage; well corroborated but not read on an official page. A separate ~EUR 3,480 figure circulates as a lower threshold - confirm with AIMA. Also expected: 12x min wage in savings (~EUR 11,040). Family uplift: +50% for a spouse, +30% per dependent child. Re-checked 2026-07-17, unchanged.

EUR 110 is the National Visa (Visto Nacional) administrative processing fee charged by the consulate for the D8 application - non-refundable if refused, and this is the figure well and consistently corroborated (incl. a search-engine snippet of the official vistos.mne.gov.pt/emolumentos page, which itself still 403s on direct fetch). It is NOT the total cost: after arrival, AIMA charges a separate residence-card (Titulo de Residencia) issuance fee, reported at roughly EUR 170 following a March-2026 fee-table revision, making total government fees commonly cited around EUR 320-400 - that AIMA figure is only attested by secondary sources, so it is deliberately left out of this single Money value rather than guessed. A reduced EUR 45 fee applies to children aged 6-12 and to nationals of a short list of EU-facilitation-agreement countries.

D8 leads to a renewable residence permit; permanent residence remains a 5-year milestone. Citizenship is different: Portugal's Nationality Law reform (in force since 2026-05-19) raised the residency requirement for citizenship from 5 to 10 years (7 years for EU/CPLP nationals), with the clock now starting from residence-card issuance rather than application date. Re-checked 2026-07-17: the reform survived Constitutional Court preventive review (Acordao 1133/2025) with this timeline intact - the Court struck down four unrelated provisions (criminal-conviction bar, vague fraud clause, loss-of-nationality-as-penalty), not the residency clock.

Figure is the Statutory Residence Test's day-count thresholds (46/91/183 depending on UK ties), not a visa rule - the visitor visa itself imposes no tax regime. Foreign income taxed only if UK tax-resident under the SRT; confirm your own tie count before relying on the automatic overseas test.

Secondary tax sources. Regimes have conditions (e.g. Impatriati needs 3 years' prior non-residence + a 4-year residency commitment; the two regimes cannot be combined). Verify with the Agenzia delle Entrate. UPDATE 2026-07-15: the 2026 Budget Law was enacted as Law No. 199 of 30 Dec 2025 (Gazzetta Ufficiale), extending the Regime Impatriati (D.Lgs. 209/2023 - 50% tax-base reduction, EUR 600,000/year cap, arrival year plus 4 more) to foreign workers who transfer tax residence to Italy from 2026. It is unresolved whether this is the same measure other 2026 sources still describe as a separate, still-undefined 'Digital Nomad Tax Bonus,' or a distinct one - treat the extended Impatriati terms above as the confirmed baseline and re-check for a dedicated DNV-specific bonus once a primary text (Gazzetta Ufficiale or an Agenzia delle Entrate circolare) is read directly.

Japan's general visa issuance fee rose from JPY 3,000 to JPY 15,000 (single-entry) effective 2026-07-01 - the first revision since 1978. A consulate Digital Nomad checklist states the visa follows the general single-entry fee schedule. RE-CHECKED 2026-07-15: a search-indexed snippet of this exact MOFA fee page now corroborates "approximately 15,000 yen for a single-entry visa," but the live page still could not be fetched directly this pass either, so confidence stays "reported" pending an on-page read.
