About Abroadmap

Abroadmap is an independent guide to digital nomad and remote-work visas, organised country by country. It exists to fix a specific problem: the popular lists of “best digital nomad visas” go out of date within months, and even reputable sites disagree on basic numbers like the income you need.

Our answer is simple and unglamorous. Every figure on a country page — income floor, duration, tax, family rules, fees, insurance — links to its source and shows the date we last checked it. When a figure comes straight from a government or consulate page we label it official; when it is corroborated but not read on an official page, we label it reported; and when we cannot verify it, we leave it TBD rather than guess. A country page only enters search results once enough of its facts are sourced. You can read the full method on the how we source page.

Alongside the sourced data, each country page carries a short written guide — who the visa suits, how the application works, the common pitfalls, and how it compares with nearby options. That guidance is ours; the numbers stay in the sourced record, and the two are kept deliberately separate so a stale figure can never hide inside a paragraph.

Abroadmap is a small, independently run project, not a law firm or a visa agency. It is an information tool, not legal, immigration, or tax advice, and it earns nothing from which country you choose. Elias Verne is the pen name of the independent researcher who founded and maintains Abroadmap. He writes every guide on this site and runs the verification process behind it: each figure on a country page is checked against the official government or consular source, labelled with a confidence level, and dated, on a recurring re-verification cadence.

He is not a lawyer, an immigration adviser, or a tax professional, and nothing on this site is legal, immigration, or tax advice. What he offers instead is a documented, dated trail to the official source for every hard fact - so you can verify each claim yourself before acting on it.
