Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate, anonymous usage (pages viewed, country, device). We do not sell personal data.

Advertising

We use Google AdSense to display ads. Google and its partners (third-party vendors) may set and read cookies, web beacons, and similar identifiers on your device, and may collect your IP address, to serve and measure ads and to personalize them based on your prior visits to this and other websites, subject to your consent.

Consent (Consent Mode v2)

Analytics and advertising are asked for as two separate choices, and you can accept one without the other. For visitors in the EEA, the UK, Switzerland and Quebec, both are denied by default and nothing is stored until you choose. Elsewhere they are granted by default and you can decline at any time.

Your choice is stored in your browser. You can review it, change it, or withdraw it entirely at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page - withdrawing is as easy as granting, and takes effect immediately.

Who is responsible for your information

Abroadmap is operated by Banicles Inc.. Under Quebec’s Law 25 the person with the highest authority within the enterprise is responsible for the protection of personal information by default and may delegate that role in writing. Reach the person in charge of the protection of personal information at contact@abroadmap.com, with “Privacy” in the subject line.

Your rights

Wherever you are, you can exercise the rights below by writing to contact@abroadmap.com. We answer within 30 days, the limit Law 25 sets, and we do not charge for it. If you are dissatisfied with our answer you may file a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.

• Access — ask what personal information about you we hold, and receive a copy.
• Rectification — have inaccurate, incomplete or equivocal information corrected.
• Withdrawal of consent — turn off analytics or advertising at any time from Cookie settings in the footer, with no need to contact us.
• Portability — receive the computerised personal information you provided us in a structured, commonly used technological format.
• Deletion and de-indexing — ask that information be deleted, or that a link to it cease to be disseminated, where the law allows.

Where your information goes

The analytics and advertising services described above are operated by providers outside Quebec, principally in the United States and the European Union, so information collected through them — including your IP address — is processed outside Quebec. We rely on those providers’ contractual data-protection commitments, and we do not sell personal information or transfer it to anyone for their own independent purposes.

How long it is kept

We keep no accounts and no visitor database of our own. Your consent choice stays in your browser’s local storage until you change it or clear your site data. Analytics and advertising data is retained by the providers above under their own retention schedules, which their policies describe. If you email us, we keep the correspondence only as long as needed to handle it.

Children

This site is written for adults planning a move abroad. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14, the threshold at which Law 25 requires a parent or guardian’s consent.
