How we source

Digital nomad visa rules change often and popular listicles rot within months — and even reputable sites disagree on basic figures like the income floor. Abroadmap is built to fix exactly that.

Every figure is sourced and dated

Each fact on a country page — income floor, duration, tax, family, fees, insurance — carries a link to its source and the date we last verified it. If we cannot source a figure, it is marked TBD and never guessed.

Confidence is labelled, not implied

official — read directly from a government or consulate page.
reported — attributed to an official source but corroborated via specialist sources (e.g. the official page blocked direct access), or a figure that is derived/contested.
estimate — an approximation (e.g. a currency conversion), clearly flagged.

The quality % shown on the sources pages is derived from that same rating — not a separate hand-picked score: official 95%, reported 70%, estimate 50%; government and consulate source listings 90–92%. It is a transparency signal, not a precise measurement.

Unsourced pages stay out of search

A country page is only indexed once enough of its hard facts are sourced. A page we cannot stand behind is kept out of the index and the sitemap — the opposite of publishing a thin listicle to chase traffic.

Re-verified quarterly

Every figure has a shelf life. We re-check sources on a quarterly cadence and update the verification date, so you always see how fresh a number is before you rely on it.

What we are not

Abroadmap is an information tool, not legal, immigration, or tax advice. Rules have exceptions and change without notice. Always confirm with the official source linked on each page, and consult a qualified professional for your situation.
