Digital Nomad Visa Updates: October 2026

By Elias Verne ยท Updated 2026-10-20

We re-checked every country page against current sources on 2026-10-20. One upcoming change is worth knowing about if you plan to apply to Portugal; everything else held steady.

Portugal: the D8 income floor is set to rise in January 2027

The Government's 2027 State Budget proposal, submitted on 8 October 2026, sets Portugal's minimum wage at EUR 970 from 1 January 2027, up from EUR 920. The D8 income requirement is four times the minimum wage, so the floor would move from EUR 3,680 to EUR 3,880 per month, with the savings benchmark rising in proportion.

This is not law yet: it depends on the budget vote and a decree-law published in the Diario da Republica. Until then the 2026 figure of EUR 3,680 is the one on the Portugal page. If you are close to the line, filing before the new wage takes effect is worth discussing with a Portuguese immigration adviser, bearing in mind that AIMA processing times are long.

Everything else: no change found

Spain, Italy, Japan, Thailand, Greece, Estonia and the UAE were re-checked and no figure on their pages changed. Disputed items stay flagged as unconfirmed rather than adopted: the rumored UAE rise to USD 5,000 per month still has no official confirmation, and Estonia's income figure still differs between official pages.
